Melinda E. Ford, D.O., FACOFP
Dr. Ford joined the OPHP Board of Directors in December 2016. Dr. Ford is board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. She attended undergrad at Clarion University of Pennsylvania and earned her DO degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. She completed her internship and residency at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. She is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Family Medicine cost center director of University Medical Associates. She is also a past president of the Ohio State Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Phuong N. Huynh, M.D.
Dr Huynh joined the OPHP board in 2020. She earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. She went on to University of Michigan for her family medicine residency training and returned to Cleveland for her sports medicine fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital/Case Medical Center. She is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. She is currently an addiction medicine fellow at St Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland for the 2019-2020 academic year. She has a strong interest in access to care for mental health and substance use disorders and physician wellness.
Steven W. Crawford, M.D., MBA, CPE, FACOG
Dr. Crawford joined the Board in 2014 - he is physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. He received his Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University and Medical Degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology since 1999 and in Clinical Informatics since 2016. He is a member of several professional medical societies. As a resident, he earned the Bryant Award, an honor presented to the overall resident of the year at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati. Dr. Crawford joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2014 and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the organization and Chair of the Finance Committee.
Craig A. Brown, MAP
Craig Brown joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2019. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from Ohio Dominican University in 1999. In 2003, Mr. Brown received his Master of Applied Politics from the University of Akron. He is currently employed by the Brooke Hancock Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission as a community development specialist. Mr. Brown also teaches political science for Kent State University. Mr. Brown recently led a successful effort for the state of Ohio to honor the first openly African American Major League Baseball player by creating Moses Fleetwood Walker Day. He is an advocate of public service and a former county elected official.
Krisanna L. Deppen, M.D.
Dr. Krisanna Deppen joined the OPHP Board in 2020. Dr. Deppen is board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. After graduating from Northeast Ohio Medical University, she completed her family medicine residency at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She completed an Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle Washington where her passion for caring for pregnant women with substance use disorders began. She works at OhioHealth-Grant Medical Center working as the program director of their addiction medicine fellowship. Additionally, she is currently completing her masters in Population Health Management at Jefferson University and looks forward to using this knowledge to expand care to our vulnerable populations.
Stephen R. Feagins, M.D., MBA, FACP
Dr. Stephen Feagins joined the OPHP Board in 2020. Dr. Feagins is board certified in Internal Medicine. He serves as Chief Clinical Officer for Mercy Health Cincinnati, Medical Director for Hamilton County Public Health, and Team Physician for FC Cincinnati. He is the Designated Institutional Official for the newly created GME program at Mercy Health Anderson Hospital. He completed residency at Wright Patterson AFB, served in the U.S. Air Force, and led humanitarian missions to Central and South America. He completed a B.S. in chemical engineering and M.D. from the University of Tennessee and M.B.A. from the University of Memphis. He is a former member of the Springfield Board of Education and admissions committee at Wright State University College of Medicine.
David D. Goldberg, D.O.
Dr. Goldberg joined the OPHP Board of Directors in December 2019. He has been actively involved with the organization since 1996, previously serving as Medical Director from 2011-2019. Dr. Goldberg graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed an internship at Grandview Hospital, and completed an American Osteopathic Association Health Policy Fellowship. He has held positions of: Medical Director of Chemical Dependency Services, Director of Medical Education, and Senior Vice-President of Medical Affairs at Grandview/Southview Hospitals; Medical Director of Greene Memorial Hospital, and is currently the Medical Director of the Women’s Recovery Center. He is certified in Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine.
Jonathan A. Good, Esq.
Jonathan A. Good, Esq. joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2016. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his law degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He has previously worked as a Workers’ Compensation Section trail attorney for the Ohio Attorney General’s office, as a Labor & Employment practice attorney at Roetzel & Andress, LPA and Thompson Hine, LLP. Mr. Good is a partner at Western Hurd, LLP. Mr. Good has been active in the nonprofit sector through volunteering with Kiwanis since 2011 and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the New Avenues to Independence, Inc.
Jeffrey L. Hunter, MSc, DC, D.O., FASFP, FACHE
Dr. Jeffrey Hunter joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2018. He is the Vice-President, Medical Director for Concerto Health, a clinical professor at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, and an adjunct assistant professor at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Hunter is a board-certified family physician with a special interest in mental health. He is the co-chair of the Psychiatry and Treatment Subcommittee of the Ohio Attorney General’s Criminal Justice and Mental Illness Task Force. He has also been a sworn law enforcement officer for over 20 years which has provided a unique insight into individuals with substance use and mental health disorders both as a physician and a police officer.
Timothy L. Kolb, D.V.M.
Dr. Kolb joined the OPHP Board in December 2016. He graduated from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine (OSUCVM) in 1982 and has practiced in Columbus since 1987. He was Adjunct Faculty at the OSUCVM and served on the Alumni Society Board and as President. He currently serves on the Ohio Veterinary Medicine Association (OVMA) Board of Trustees and as Chair of the Wellness Committee. He also served as Chair of the OVMA Confidential Assistance Committee for over 20 years. He previously served on the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board and currently is involved with the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. Dr. Kolb has been married to his wife Denise for 38 years and has 2 sons and 4 grandchildren.
Gregory J. Nixon, O.D., FAAO
Dr. Nixon joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2018. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell College prior to his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University. He currently holds the position of Associate Dean for Clinical Services and Professor of Clinical Optometry at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Dr. Nixon is also a partner at Professional VisionCare, LLC. Dr. Nixon is an active member of the Ohio Optometric Association where he is a member of the EastWest Eye Conference Education committee. His work on behalf of the organization has earned him recognition as an OOA Special Merit Award winner in 1999, 2005, and 2006, and as the Ohio Optometric Association Young OD of the Year in 2000. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry where he serves as a member of the Lectures and Workshops Committee.
Theresa C. Novak, M.Ed., PCC-S, CWC
Theresa Novak, M.Ed., PCC-S, CWC joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2016 and currently serves as the Chair of the Fund Development Advisory Committee. She is a professional clinical counselor licensed in the state of Ohio. She earned her undergraduate degree from Baldwin Wallace University and her Master’s in Community Counseling from Kent State University. Her career experience includes work in community mental health, private practice and higher education. She works at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine where she provides mental health counseling and outreach education on wellness and resiliency.
Jason E. Thuener, M.D.
Dr. Thuener joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2020. Dr. Thuener is an otolaryngologist at University Hospitals Ear, Nose and Throat Institute and an assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio and his Medical Degree at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship training at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He specializes in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction. Dr. Thuener currently serves on the OPHP Governance Committee.
Matthew A. Vail, M.D., MPH
Dr. Vail joined the OPHP Board of Directors in 2019. He is the Medical Director of Associate Health for OhioHealth, a healthcare system in Ohio with eleven hospitals and over forty ambulatory facilities. Responsible for medical oversight of vaccination programs, health assessments, respiratory fitness programs, hazmat examinations, work-related injuries and illnesses for 29,000 plus employees, volunteers and students. Dr. Vail is also the Co-Medical Director of Practitioner Health and Wellness assisting with the development of health promotion programs for over 3,000 physicians and advanced nurse practitioners. He is a Board-Certified Occupational Medicine physician and Medical Review Officer for it's drug and alcohol screening program and is a volunteer peer monitor for OPHP.
